In St John the Baptist's College, we are extremely lucky to have culturally and linguistically diverse students with over 20 different languages spoken by our pupils. These pupils are given the opportunity to avail of additional English language and literacy support.   

Our EAL support assistant Nicola Gorman works closely with pupils, supporting them to ensure they progress and improve in their English language proficiency, enabling them to achieve their full potential in all areas of the curriculum.   

The additional language club also enables pupils to sit GCSE/OCN qualifications in their home/community language. Pupils are currently working towards qualifications in GCSE Portuguese, GCSE Polish and OCN Irish, Italian, French and Spanish.
